Leora's Teaching Philosophy

I believe that vocal expression is about more than making a pretty sound. It is about using the whole body as an instrument that creates healthy vocal habits for anybody passionate about singing. Learning how to sing is like learning how to drive a car, you have to know the basics before getting behind the wheel.

I come into every lesson with a fresh set of critical listening ears, knowing that each day for a developing singer holds a new challenge that I can help with and a different hill to climb. After all, the human body and voice are constantly changing.

However, beyond the basics, singing is a vulnerable form of self-expression that is a unique experience for any student of voice. I strive to create a compassionate environment where each student will feel comfortable having their own, unique, personal musical development journey that creates a stronger bond between mind, body, and soul.

I offer lessons to students of all ages and levels, no matter what background they have in singing. Students can choose to study a variety of different genres of repertoire including classical and opera, musical theatre, jazz, pop, rock, etc... All styles of singing have the same basics and focus on the whole body as an instrument to create a beautiful product. Cross-training and learning how to sing in different styles is an important part of vocal development.
